Volunteer Driver

This is a Temporary, Part Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

To safely transport children, young people or family members who are currently accessing EACH’s services. This may be journeys to the home, hospice or other locations such as hospital appointments or social occasions. 

Key Activities:

  • Picking up EACH children from home and bringing them to the hospice (EACH children will always be accompanied by a parent or EACH escort to provide care for the child)
  • Transporting siblings to and from EACH sibling days or other activities
  • Picking up parents/ grandparents and bringing them to organised EACH groups or other activities
  • Comfortable driving one of our hospice vehicles

Personal Qualities / Attributes/ Knowledge:

  • Must be 21+ and hold a full clean drivers licence
  • Friendly and welcoming
  • Committed and reliable
  • Understanding, respectful and non-judgemental
  • Experience of driving professionally (e.g. school bus driver, driving instructor) is desirable but not essential however individuals should be confident and experienced drivers
  • Experience of working with children /young people/ vulnerable people is desirable
  • Able to work confidentially and within boundaries and have a good awareness of safeguarding
  • The ability to work on own initiative

Supervision/Induction:

  • You will be provided with an induction by the Care Manager, who will also provide you with regular supervisions.

Hours/Time commitment:

  • Driver rotas are issued on a monthly basis and drivers can sign up to regular days or join our pool of ad-hoc volunteer drivers

Recruitment process:

  • Application form, Informal Interview, Enhanced DBS check & 2 references.
  • You will also be required to complete a drivers declaration form and undertake some mandatory training ahead of commencing your volunteer role, some of which will require an annual refresher e.g. safeguarding.
